More Than 800 Coats Donated to Community Members in Need

Throughout December, the Denver Health Foundation is donating coats and other cold-weather gear to community members living in vulnerable situations.
Over 600 coats for young children were delivered to Head Start and will be given to families in need. For parents with limited resources, providing a new winter coat for their growing children each year can be a challenge, and the Denver Health Foundation is delighted to help alleviate this burden.
Additionally, the Denver Health Foundation and Dependable Cleaners have donated more than 200 coats to the Denver CARES program. Denver CARES is part of Denver Health’s Outpatient Behavioral Health Services and offers rehabilitation and evaluation services for drug and alcohol use disorders. Many of those with a substance use disorder are also experiencing homelessness. In addition to winter coats, the Denver Health Foundation has also provided sweatpants, sweaters, and shoes for patients. Often, patients don’t have adequate clothing upon discharge and these donations ensure that everyone leaving Denver Health has appropriate clothing for the season.
