Building a healthier Denver, together

Thank you for your interest in the Denver Health Foundation Board of Directors.

Denver Health Foundation is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization that raises private funds from individual and institutional donors to support Denver Health and Hospital Authority, Denver’s public hospital system. Denver Health is committed to its mission to care for the city and county of Denver – even for those who cannot afford it.

  • A quarter of Denver city and county residents receive their health care at Denver Health.
  • Each year we care for more than 60,000 children and deliver nearly one-third of all Denver babies.
  • Students in all 207 Denver Public Schools and their siblings receive free care at any of our 19 school-based clinics.
  • We have three mobile health center vehicles that can provide primary care and women’s health services at rotating locations throughout the city to meet people where they are and close the gap in accessing care.
  • In 2022, Denver Health provided $120 million in uncompensated care, the cost a hospital spends without payment from a patient or insurer. Over the years, Denver Health has been responsible for billions of dollars in charity care.

The Foundation is recruiting new board members who will actively support Denver Health’s mission through board participation, contributing to its financial sustainability, and promoting its role and work in the community among their networks.

Core Expectations of Board Service

  • Board members serve a three-year term with the opportunity to extend service for a second term.
  • The Board meets five times per year and may also hold special meetings when needed.
  • In addition to attending board meetings, board members are expected to serve on at least one committee and attend those meetings, as well as attending special events.
  • Board members also commit to giving and/or raising a minimum of $10,000 annually for Denver Health Foundation.

Denver Health Foundation’s Board of Directors is committed to recruiting board members who represent the community. People of color, women, and individuals under 50 years of age who are willing to fulfill the expectations and commitments of board service are encouraged to apply.
