“Barbecue May Not be The Road to World Peace, But It’s a Start” – Anthony Bourdain

May 01, 2019

On June 5th, Denver Health Foundation will celebrate its eleventh annual Hot Rocks Griller Challenge at Elway’s Cherry Creek.  The sizzling event that brings in Denver’s movers and shakers is held on the back patio, and features thirteen of Denver’s best chefs as they compete in a “sliders and sides” challenge.  As guests cast their vote for 1st place, over one thousand attendees indulge in endless gourmet food, refreshing libations, live music, and silent auction bidding – all to raise awareness and funds for men’s health.

The cause could not be more appropriate leading up to Father’s Day. Of the top ten health threats facing men in America, all are mostly preventable. Unfortunately, far fewer men than women regularly see a doctor until those small, preventable issues become major problems.  Dollars raised through Hot Rocks will improve men’s health education, access to screening and treatment programs, and outreach to Denver’s medically underserved men. It is no secret that when men remain active and healthy, families and communities flourish.

This year, we’re excited to announce the addition of several new chefs.  The line-up includes:  David Anderson & Kevin Bird – Range, Cliff Blauvelt – Tap & Burger Belleview Station, Michael Bortz – City Bakery, Edgar Lechuga-Diaz – Elway’s Cherry Creek, Kade Gianinetti & Jared Schwartz – American Grind, Patrick McCready – Stoic & Genuine, Ryan Rau – Urban Farmber, Paul Reilly – Beast + Bottle, Alon Shaya – Safta, Logan Stephenson – Panzano, Marco Ugarte – Elway’s Ritz Carlton.
