CFO, Colorado and New Mexico
UnitedHealthcare

Although she has been in the healthcare industry for fifteen years, Laura learned more about Denver Health after participating in an Integrated Healthcare Markets panel discussion with Dr. Patrica Gabow in October 2008. The discussion was around the state of healthcare in Colorado and how it was envisioned in the future.  Laura was taken by the compelling history of Denver Health and its role in the community, and hopes to leverage her experience in the Level One Society to further the Denver Health mission and to positively impact and better serve not only Denver but all of Colorado.

Laura began her career in healthcare by working for four years with the Department of Defense healthcare program, TRICARE, serving the military active duty, retirees, and reservists.  She has been with UnitedHealthcare for ten years and in this time has worked across a broad spectrum of various programs and finance departments, including healthcare economics and financial planning for Colorado, New Mexico, Wyoming, Montana, Texas, and Oklahoma.

Laura also serves on boards for the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce of Metro Denver, the Hispanic Chamber Education Foundation, and the Denver Workforce Investment Board.  Laura holds a B.A. in International Relations and received her M.B.A. from the University of Colorado in Denver.  Laura has two sons and two stepsons with her husband, Sean Kness.
