Terry Scholes joined the board of the Denver Health Foundation in 1999. “I had known about Denver Health for years,” he said. “My wife, Elaine, has worked there for more than 30 years. My involvement is an emotional thing – the people who work at Denver Health work hard and do important work. As a past DHF board chair, I can tell you this is one of the best causes that I’ve ever been involved with. I’ve had the opportunity to work with the best people striving towards the best mission.”
Terry is pleased with recent board accomplishments, especially raising the funds to build the Rita Bass Trauma & Emergency Medicine Education Institute in 2002 and Denver voters’ overwhelming approval of a $148 million bond initiative in 2003.
A native of Wyoming, Terry has lived in Colorado since 1972. He has been in the insurance business for more than 40 years. In addition to the DHF board, he also serves on the board of the Colorado Prevention Center and Central City Opera as well as the boards of other charitable organizations in Colorado and Florida. Terry and his wife, Elaine, who is the medical director of Denver Health Medical Plan, have three grown children. When they’re not hard at work or volunteering, they enjoy spending time in Florida.
