Evi Makovsky

Evi Makovsky’s first introduction to the Denver Health Foundation was to get involved with the annual Triumph Over Challenge Gala as the wife of Board Member Evan Makovsky.  She took a special interest in the event’s auction and continues to be a driving force behind its success.  Today, Foundation Board membership is a family affair.

Evi, who joined her husband on the Board in December 2004, believes deeply in the mission of Denver Health.  “I believe there is a real need for a safety net hospital,” she said.  “Denver Health is one of the few well-run, successful hospitals of its kind in the country.  It is made up of amazing people doing necessary and critical work in our community.”

An attorney with a master’s degree in social work, Evi looks forward to her chance to make a difference as a member of the Board.  She hopes that during her tenure the community will begin to realize the “amazing resource” we have in Denver Health.

When she’s not working tirelessly for DHF,  Evi co-chairs the Ethics Committee at National Jewish and co-teaches a class in medical ethics with retired Denver Health physician Michael Earnest, M.D., at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center.  She also serves as a member of other non-profit Boards in Denver.
