Carole McCotter has served on the Foundation board since 2003. She first became acquainted with what was then Denver General when she worked with Child Protective Services for Denver Juvenile Courts. Later, as a member of the Denver School Board, she worked with the hospital to establish the School-based Health Clinics.
“I was inspired by my neighbor, Dr. Elaine Scholes, and her passion for Denver Health,” she said. “I joined the board because I was very impressed with Dr. Gabow, her staff and the important mission of this institution.”
While she is passionate about all programs and services provided by Denver Health, she is especially interested in preventive healthcare. “Denver Health is unique in the attention it gives to preventive care through both the Community Health program and the School-based Health Clinics,” Carole said. “These services are vital to the long-term health of Denver.”
During her tenure on the board, Carole has been committed to educating the community about the crucial services and quality of care provided by Denver Health. “I hope our citizens can begin to understand that prevention and intervention lead to cost-savings and a healthier city.”
Carole has been married to Jim McCotter for over 40 years. They have two grown daughters and three grandchildren.
