After her eight year term in public office as Denver City Councilwoman, Elbra Wedgeworth returned to Denver Health as the Chief Government and Community Relations Officer. Before she ran for office Elbra had served as director of community relations, and director of philanthropic affairs at Denver Health. The institution has remained near and dear to her heart through the years.
“Because of my work history with Denver Health, and the work I have done with the institution since being elected to City Council, I wanted to continue to give back to the community,” she said. “Serving on the board of the foundation lets me use my expertise in the private, public and nonprofit sectors to do just that. I have always felt that Denver Health was my second city family.”
Elbra is passionate about the School-Based Health Centers and Child Health Plan Plus (CHP+). “When I was with Denver Health, I helped to open the clinic at West High School, and organized the 10th anniversary of the program,” she said. “Starting life with a great health program while you are young will put you on the path to a good quality of life in the future.”
As a member of the Foundation board, Elbra looks forward to “continuing what I started when I worked there – to make Denver Health the premier health facility in the United States.”
