Andy Carrington had just moved to Denver from Dallas and was still unpacking boxes when she met Jean Galloway and Dr. Patricia A. Gabow, Denver Health's CEO, at a party. She mentioned that she had been a pharmaceutical sales trainer for 15 years and that she did not plan to work outside the home when her husband started his new job in Denver. A year later, she joined the Denver Health Foundation board.
“I was thrilled because I knew I was really going to miss the medical world when I left my job,” she said. “Working with Denver Health lets me stay involved.”
Andy has helped with the annual gala since joining the Board in 2001. She has also hosted a baby shower in her home as part of the Newborns in Need Campaign.
Her quest as a board member is to make sure that “every citizen in metro Denver learns how fortunate we are to have Denver Health,” she said. “When I worked in the pharmaceutical industry, I visited major hospitals all over the country. None of them come close to being Denver Health. It is truly a gem in our community.”
Andy and her husband, Chris, have two children, Sydney and Cooper.
